I've had a PrintrBot Simple 3D printer for several months now, but I haven't been able to get the printing software to work with Linux. Yesterday I downloaded the latest versions of Slic3r and Repetier and discovered to my surprise that they work. I spent most of the day yesterday calibrating the printer and learning my way around the two programs. Today, I finally printed my first thing, the Calibration Cube.
It's not too exciting, but this object is meant to help you tell if everything is set up and calibrated correctly. Judging by the guides I was using to do the setup, my first print came out almost perfect. I did have a few small issues (the filament doesn't stick to the print bed very well and the extruder arm leans forward when it's out, making it very hard to level the printer bed correctly) but I think I can work around them.
